Why does Peugeot 206 have no oil pressure?

Our Peugeot 206 (1.4L petrol) has no oil pressure below 1200 rpm and warning light comes on. Once engine speed is above 1200 oil pressure picks up and warning light goes out. Local garage has dropped sump and checked strainer for blockages, changed oil and now also fitted new oil pump.

When does low oil pressure warning go away?

Low oil pressure warning on start with an engine STOP warning, much clattering of the top end but it’s not my car and went to view it with a view to purchase and fix. the owner who knows nothing about cars said the noise goes away after about 15 minutes running. I don’t know why the warning was ignored.

It rather sounds like the engine has had it. If you’re buying as a project, then fine, haul the motor out and rebuild it. If you’re actually needing a car for transport, forget it. Only buy if you have deducted the cost of a new engine from the price. Rattling for 15 misn is really bad news.

Checked the oil when I got home, level was fine. Fast forward about 3 weeks and it happened again, stayed on for a few seconds then disappeared again. Nothing happened for around another 2 weeks, however over the past 3 weeks or so it has been getting more and more frequent and now happens multiple times on each journey I make.
