Do lecturers check references?
Assuming that the papers are in a field known to the professor, he/she should know many of the sources cited by students. This not only amortizes the effort of checking those sources, but also allows the prof to cross-check such citations.
Do professors read papers?
8. Some professors might only read the essays on final exams for students in between letter grades. If the final is a paper instead of an exam, we really only extensively grade the ones from students on the cusp from one letter grade to another.
Do universities contact references?
Universities cannot send reminders to referees or contact them directly to follow up on a reference – this is your responsibility as an applicant, so set your referees a clear deadline.
Can you apply to uni without a reference?
Don’t want to include a reference? There is actually an option to not include a reference, but only if you contact all your chosen universities and colleges and they agree that you don’t need one. Just confirm this on the reference page of your application.
Can you apply to UCAS without a reference?
You must have a reference However you request a reference (whether you’re applying independently or through a school or college), it must be included in your application before it can be sent to UCAS.
