Management is basically in a specific action context, which determines a lot of action variables, to a greater or lesser extent (with-)and modified. At least three different context bundles are here:
- firstly, each Person involved acts on the basis of their respective personal, social and cultural background,
- second, the specific organization in which Management takes place, in particular, their Form and cultural influences, the possibilities of action and
- finally, the entire organization’s external context, the organizational environment affects both the organization as well as the people in your processes and actions.
Thus, for example, interests, motivations, expectations, interpretations, commitment or understanding of the content, procedures, or reactions can be influenced.
Management involves the design of situations in which people interact as part of social systems in various multi-dimensional contexts. The management success depends to a large part of it, to what extent, the relevant action parameters of the particular context and take into account (can detect), and thus, the extent to which action-relevant aspects can be identified, anticipated, and implemented. Successful Management requires, therefore, that these – additional – to summarize insights and the existing management of knowledge, to rethink the management standards and tools and your own management style and to expand, to be able to easier to the specific contexts.
Here are three contexts are to be distinguished.
- Is a Manager in the national context, so, he must be the specific legal, economic and social, etc. conditions, and its operational environment, to know and take into account,
- is he in an international context, so the same applies to the respective terms and conditions of its use or reference countries.
- He can, however, also in an intercultural context action, so in the In – or abroad, with people of a different culture to do.
The figure shows that the General management competencies need to be supplemented in accordance with the respective areas of application to national, international and/or intercultural skills.
